Link attachment error

When publishing a post on a social network, a snippet is created — this is an image and description that are automatically loaded from the website you specify. If an error occurs during the retrieval of information from the website, the social network may not publish the post because it did not receive a response from the server.

Possible causes

The social network was unable to access the website via the provided link. Your website may be configured to serve content only to users and not to social networks, or there may be firewalls and other technical restrictions.

What to do?

  1. Check the link's functionality.
Copy the link from the post and paste it into the browser's address bar. Ensure that the link opens correctly and the desired content is loaded.

  2. Try creating a new post manually.
Go to the social network and create a new post, adding the same link. If the error occurs at this stage, contact the website developer and show them the error message. They can identify the cause of the issue.

  3. Check the UTM parameters.
If posting through Postmypost adds the link with UTM tags, your website may not handle such requests correctly. In this case, the social network cannot retrieve the data and display the snippet. Contact the website developer to resolve this problem.

  4. Check the server settings.
The social network requests data from your website within a few seconds. If the server responds too slowly or blocks the request, the post may not be published. Check the firewall settings or request rate limitations. For this, contact your DevOps engineer.

  5. Contact the social network's support.
If the issue persists, reach out to the social network’s support team, providing them with the post text and link. Unfortunately, we cannot resolve this problem on the Postmypost side.
